To date, more than 2,800 patients from 34 different countries, both within and outside Europe, have used our services.
There are no limitations on the number of times you can use dialysis while on vacation. The ability to travel depends on your physical and mental fitness to travel, as well as the availability of dialysis centers.
If you are unable to attend and communicate the reason for cancellation, it is possible to cancel the booked dialysis sessions. A written request must be sent to the assistance service within 7 days of the first dialysis session.
In the case of booking accommodation, the deposit paid to secure the availability of the facility will be retained.
Our center exclusively provides services for patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment.
However, peritoneal dialysis allows the patient to be more flexible in choosing their vacation since they are not dependent on the need to use dialysis services at public or private facilities. The patient can perform their daily treatment directly at their accommodation. The necessary materials can be sent directly by mail from the manufacturer to the address of the chosen accommodation or, more prudently, carried with them while traveling. For more information, we recommend contacting your dedicated vacation coordinator, your head nurse, the ASL, or the supplying company.
For patients residing in non-EU countries and/or European countries not part of the Schengen Agreement, dialysis services can be accessed either through private medical insurance or by paying the cost of the dialysis session through direct billing from an accredited or non-accredited private dialysis center.
In this case, we kindly ask that you contact us directly to receive all the information regarding service costs, payment methods, and reimbursement procedures to provide to your insurance agency or for your own personal use.

Nephrological visits
We are located in Western Sicily.
To book your appointment, you can contact us by phone (Nephrology Clinic Valderice +39.0923.836440; Nephrology Clinic Alcamo - +39.0924.502366), via email, or by filling out a simple online form. Click here to get started.
The treatment for kidney disease depends on the type of disease. Nephrological treatments are usually aimed not only at short-term relief but also at preventing the possible progression of the disease in the future.
Loss of kidney function can result from a wide variety of conditions, either directly affecting the kidneys (e.g., glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidney disease, repeated kidney infections, etc.) or indirectly (such as diabetes or hypertension). When the kidneys stop functioning properly, waste products accumulate in the blood, posing a serious risk to the patient's health and life. This situation requires renal replacement therapy — either dialysis or a kidney transplant.
In most cases, hemodialysis treatment lasts for life, or until a kidney transplant becomes possible. In some specific cases, such as acute kidney damage, the kidneys may recover their function, and dialysis may no longer be necessary.
During the visit, the doctor will conduct an interview and perform the necessary tests. The nephrologist will assess any changes and concerning symptoms. They may prescribe blood and urine tests and, if necessary, refer the patient for diagnostic imaging such as urography, ultrasound, or scintigraphy.
The most important element of the first consultation with a nephrologist is the medical history. The doctor will ask a series of questions to assess your condition. This information will help the doctor make a more accurate diagnosis and prescribe medication if needed.
Typically, during the first visit, your medical history will be reviewed, an interview will be conducted, and, if necessary, tests such as blood tests, urine tests, and kidney ultrasounds will be ordered.
It’s a good idea to bring with you all relevant test results, including:- Laboratory test results;
- Radiological exam results (X-rays, ultrasound, CT scan);
- Information about diets you have followed;
- A list of all medications and supplements you are currently using;
- Information about any family medical history;
- A list of your treating physicians with contact information.

Of course, you are encouraged to ask your doctor any questions to gain a better understanding of how your kidneys function and how they impact your health.
