HOLIDAY DIALYSIS abroad– What Documentation Do You Need to Prepare?

Organizing a dialysis trip for many hemodialysis patients can seem like a challenge – a vacation while on dialysis requires a lot of planning and preparation. It's not enough to simply book accommodation and tickets – at the heart of the dialysis travel planning is always continuity of treatment, ensuring a safe dialysis center for your vacation, and preparing the necessary documentation.

HOLIDAY DIALYSIS abroad– What Documentation Do You Need to Prepare?

We know that preparing the required documentation can sometimes be a complex and lengthy bureaucratic process, which is why we’ve developed clear and easy-to-follow guidelines.
To make your vacation easy and carefree, our Dialysis on Vacation project takes care not only of organizing your trip to Sicily (including booking the accommodation most suited to your needs and finding the right dialysis center) but also helps with preparing the necessary documentation for dialysis, by directly contacting your reference center if needed.
The required documentation for dialysis in Sicily at our center consists of only 5 documents!
The person responsible for documentation – Francesca Nasello and the Holiday Dialysis coordinators will be happy to assist you in this process.

With Us, It's Easier Than You Think!

You will be asked for the medical documentation even before your vacation in Sicily. We request that you send it to us within 3 weeks of your arrival. This way, we will have your updated medical data and the necessary time to ensure all required steps have been correctly followed or to point out any necessary changes, allowing you to fully enjoy your vacation once you’re here.

Here's the Document Checklist

? Health Card and ID Card
Mucaria dialysis centers are accredited and in agreement with the National Health Service (SSN), so you can take advantage of free dialysis services by presenting your health card (for Italian patients) or EHIC card (for foreign EU patients), GHIC for UK patients.
In addition to this, to facilitate the processing of the patient's data, we also ask for your ID card in advance so that once you are here, you can fully enjoy your vacation without having to deal with bureaucratic tasks, which will be handled before your arrival.

? Dialysis Form - Information About Your Dialysis
Before your vacation, you will be asked for another important document – the Dialysis Form. This document should be filled out by the patient’s doctor so that our medical and nursing staff can be well-prepared and informed to provide the best care for each guest by knowing the patient's history and specific situation – travelers on dialysis.
We will provide you with the Dialysis Form, a simple document that includes all the necessary data.

? Serology (Markers)
You will also be asked to send your serology results, specifically the reports for the hepatitis B, C, and HIV markers – no older than three months from the patient’s arrival. This is to ensure that every guest is properly monitored and placed in a specific area of our clinic. In case of positivity, we have a dedicated room where these guests will be received and assisted during their holiday dialysis.

We Assist You Step by Step

Our Vacation Coordinators and medical staff will guide you through each step, and if you have any doubts, we are always at your disposal!
This way, once you arrive in Sicily, everything will be ready for your vacation, and the only thing you’ll need to think about is relaxing and enjoying the beauty of our island. ☺
