Dialysis on Vacation in Sicily? Here's What to Visit and How to Get There While Staying in Trapani

Trapani offers the opportunity to spend a peaceful vacation, surrounded by two seas, with its beaches just steps away from the historic center... and it's also a great starting point to explore Western Sicily, even without renting a car.
Not everyone is keen on driving, especially if their stay is less than a week. For some, getting behind the wheel may be stressful and hinder the true goal of the vacation - relaxation!
In these cases, it's good to be informed about transportation options and possible ways to move around Trapani, allowing you to organize a trip that gives you the opportunity to visit different places - depending on the kind of vacation you'd like to have.

How to Get Around Trapani?

Connections from the Airport

Upon arriving at the airport, you will have the option to reach the city with our transfer services, which not only serve Trapani but also San Vito Lo Capo, Valderice, Castellammare del Golfo, and surrounding areas.
Choosing Trapani as your location, you can also reach the city by public transport - by bus. The Palermo airport is connected by SEGESTA AUTOLINEE buses, while the Trapani airport is served by AST services.

In the City

To get around the city during your holiday dialysis, you will need to know about the Trapani ATM buses.
Whether your plan is to visit the Erice Cable Car or the Pepoli Museum or the "Maria SS. Annunziata" Sanctuary, or reach San Giuliano Beach, you’ll need to know the bus lines and schedules for Trapani ATM.
For San Giuliano Beach and the Cable Car – bus lines 21, 23, public holidays – 201, 202

And with Public Transport – What Places Can You Visit?

Caribbean of Europe – San Vito Lo Capo

From Trapani, you can take buses to San Vito Lo Capo, starting early in the morning to have as much time as possible to enjoy the sunny beach of this typical tourist town, full of local spots, music, and food, then return to the city in the evening to enjoy a stroll through the streets colored by the sunset.

The City Among the New – Erice

Also well connected is the medieval town of Erice, accessible via the extra-urban bus or the cable car, an experience that is certainly worth trying, as long as you’re not afraid of heights and the wind permits! https://www.funiviaerice.it/it

The company offering the possibility of traveling on extra-urban routes is AST http://www.aziendasicilianatrasporti.it/, which makes stops at strategic points in the city, such as the port and central Via Fardella.

The cable car is easily reachable by the urban bus lines (https://www.atmtrapani.it/ ),frequent and well-organized, and allows you to reach Erice while enjoying a breathtaking journey suspended in the air, admiring the surrounding landscape.

Palermo, A Wonderful Fusion of Cultures

From Trapani, you can also take the bus to Palermo if you want to spend a cosmopolitan day, indulging in shopping and art. The company handling this route is Segesta Autolinee (https://www.segesta.it/) and offers rides every hour.

Egadi Islands – The Gems of Western Sicily

If you're interested in discovering the Egadi Archipelago, from Trapani port, you can take hydrofoils that will take you to Levanzo, Favignana, or Marettimo in less than an hour (https://www.libertylines.it/ ).

You can choose to visit these islands independently or join organized tours departing directly from Trapani, offering the chance to spend a day on a boat with lunch on board and stops at the most scenic coves. With Dialysis Mucaria, you’ll have the opportunity to benefit from special discounts!

A True Natural Paradise – Zingaro

Boat excursions also cover San Vito Lo Capo and the Zingaro Nature Reserve, giving you the chance to admire crystal-clear waters and caves that are otherwise unreachable! These tours run from May to October.

Salt Pans

Also recommended are tours of the Trapani salt pans, reachable via dedicated transfer services and guided tours organized by Flamingo Way, (https://www.toursalinetrapani.com/ ). The Trapani Salt Pans are one of the main attractions of Western Sicily and offer unique landscapes and unexpected views, especially at sunset.

Other Stops for Your Itinerary? We Recommend Them!

And If You Prefer to Rent a Car

Renting a car is certainly recommended for longer stays, especially to visit the coast, which includes less-known spots like the rocky shoreline of Pizzolungo, Cornino Bay, and then the hidden coves of Castelluzzo and Macari, finishing with the golden beach of San Vito Lo Capo.
With your own car, we also recommend excursions to farther locations, such as the Selinunte Archaeological Park, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Salemi, Gibellina, Castellammare, Scopello, Monreale, Mondello...

You can also choose to rent a car directly at the airport or in the city center.
